Chronic Pain |
Pain can be defined as being an unpleasant and uncomfortable feeling that is conveyed to the human brain by the body’s sensory nerves. Usually, this discomfort being caused acts as a signal of potential injury to the body. This pain that affects the body can either be temporary and sudden or it can last for a long time. Chronic pain is the pain that occurs suddenly but persists and continues occurring for an extended period of time, even despite proper treatment of the underlying cause of the pain.
While chronic pain can be caused by an illness or injury, many causes of this type of pain are still unknown. Chronic pain may be treated through the use of proper medications, electrical stimulation, physical therapy, counseling, alternative therapies such as acupressure, acupuncture, yoga, massage, etc, as well as many other kinds of therapies. |
