How can Low Back Pain be prevented?

Back pain is a tough ailment to overcome especially if the pain morphs from an acute to chronic condition. It is tough to prove that low back pain can actually be prevented as most people are known to experience it in some point in their lives. However, there are ways that have shown benefits in the form of reduced back pain and faster recovery periods. Some of the things that may help prevent low back pain are stated below:

  • Maintain a healthy exercise routine in order to preserve health and fitness in your entire body, including the lower back. Some exercises particularly meant for preventing the return of back pain include aerobic conditioning and strengthening exercises.

  • Practice correct postures such as sitting and standing.

  • Practice comfortable sleeping stances that do not put strain on your back. When sleeping on the side put a pillow between your legs, while sleeping upright put a pillow beneath your legs.

  • Avoid high-heels as they imbalance posture.

  • Give up smoking as tobacco slows down healing of tissues, heightens the feeling of pain and increases the probability of osteoporosis which means bones loss.

  • Maintain a proper diet routine to lose weight around areas like your waist that puts pressure on the lower back.
