What are the Drug interactions associated with Celebrex and what are the signs of overdose?

The only COX-2 selective NSAID available in the United States is Celebrex, and it cause less stomach problems compared to traditional NSAIDs, which are being used to treat arthritis. But most of the NSAIDs have the risk of kidney problems, high blood pressure, heart risks and fluid retention.

Celebrex is marketed by Pfizer and was first approved in 1998 by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the cure of the signs and symptoms of adult rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

Celebrex is not available over the counter, and can only be obtained through a doctor’s prescription. It comes in 100 mg and 200 mg, and depending upon the seriousness of the arthritis, the dose should be taken accordingly. To avoid stomach upset, it can be taken along with food or with a glass of water.

Apart from curing adult rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, it is also used to treat acute pain in adults and to decrease the number of rectum and colon growths in patients with Familial Adenomatous Polyposis.

There are several side effects of Celebrex when taken in excess. These are indigestion, headache, diarrhea, upper respiratory tract infection, stomach pain, sinus inflammation and nausea.
